Housing First is

an efficient

solution against

homelessness

A methodology offering a decent, individual, permanent home with professional support

Not until long ago, the way in which homelessness was tackled followed a step-like care model. People had to take different steps, little by little: from the street to a shelter, from the shelter to a temporary home, and the last step was a permanent home. In that long process a high percentage of people went back to the street. Housing First turns that model around and starts with housing.

The idea of Housing First was developed twenty years ago in the USA, under the umbrella of the organization  Pathways to Housing and it is very widespread.
